Curtis Lee Smith of St. Clair, MO departed this life at his home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, having reached the age of sixty-one years, one month and two days. Curtis was born in St. Louis, MO on January 3, 1965, son of Mitchell Lee Smith and Judie Rae Smith nee Morris. On June 23, 2000 he was united in marriage to Kelly Renee Halmich and loved her daughter as his own, and later grew their family by two.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Kelly Smith of St. Clair, MO; by his children, MO, Bailey Smith and fiancé, Ryan Stutzman, of Washington, MO, Current Smith and husband, Nathan Collins, of Linn, MO and Meghan Maddox and husband, Jake, of St. Clair; by his mother, Judie Smith of St. Clair, MO; by his siblings, Kevin Smith of Eureka, MO and Kim Smith-Linthicum of St. Clair, MO; by his father-in-law, Denny Halmich of St. Clair, MO; by his grandchildren, Ellie, Sophie and Lilah Maddox; by his nieces and nephews, Madison, Jesse, Hunter and Becca Smith; by brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins and many friends.
Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Mitchell Smith; by his mother-in-law, Sharon Wilson; and by his step-father-in-law, Roy Wilson.
During his working career as a young man, he had worked in landscaping and construction. Following that he was employed by St. Clair Die Casting for many years, and would later be employed by Plaze, Inc. in St. Clair, MO as an electrician and maintenance person, serving the company for over fifteen years. Curtis loved being outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, kayaking or hunting mushrooms. He enjoyed watching football on television, especially the San Francisco 49ers, and was also a NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed watching movies and game shows and was knowledgeable about various trivia. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever.
A kind and loving husband, son, son-in-law, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 13, 2026 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation.
