OBITUARY

Charles Vester Sohn of Sullivan, MO departed this life in Washington, MO on Thursday, March 19, 2026 having reached the age of eighty-seven years, four months and fifteen days. Charles was born in Sullivan, MO on November 4, 1938, son of Vester Emil Sohn and Alverda Louise Sohn nee Bailey. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have one son. On December 26, 1974 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Condray their families were joined as one.

Charles is survived by his wife, Geraldine Sohn nee Condray of Sullivan, MO; by one son, Keith Sohn and wife, Audrey, of Florissant, MO; by one daughter, Kathy Oldham-Goodman and fiancé, Dan Fraggetta, of Sullivan, MO; by his daughter-in-law, Sheila Oldham; by one brother, Randy Sohn of St. Louis, MO; by five sisters, Ginny Rosch of St. Clair, MO, Anna Rice and husband, Jay, of St. Clair, MO, Vicki McDermott and husband, Paul, of St. Clair, MO, Faye Chitty and husband, Dave, of Wright City, MO and Mildred Burns and husband, John, of Schoolcraft, MI; by eleven grandchildren, Craig Sohn and wife, Tracy, Gregory Walters and wife, Sharla, Kimberley Gilley and husband, Mike, Allison Browning, Jack Browning, Joshua Oldham, Matthew Oldham, Justin Oldham and wife, Elizabeth, Blake Goodman and wife, Jessica, Dillon Goodman and Amanda Bailey and husband, Judd; by twelve great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Alverda Sohn; by one son, Lawrence Oldham; by five brothers, Harold “Sonny” Sohn, Mack Sohn, Jim Sohn, Leroy Sohn and Mike Sohn; by two sisters, Shirley Bay and Estelle Crews.

Charles was a Christian and member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Sullivan, MO. He drove a truck for different companies throughout his working career and also for his own company, C.V. Sohn Inc. for fifteen years. Charles was a member of Sons of The American Legion Post 347 in St. Clair, MO, St. Clair Elks Lodge 2651, Tennessee Walking Horse Club and also American Coach member. In his younger years he enjoyed riding horses with his dad. Charles was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, loved riding ATV’s and traveling in their motorhome. After his retirement he spent the next twenty-five years traveling the country with Geraldine, riding ATV’s and meeting new friends along the way. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever.

A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 23, 2026 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Fred Miller officiating. Interment will be in New Chapel Hill Cemetery in Sullivan, MO. Memorials may be made to the cemetery.
