OBITUARY Charles Edward Gloriod, Sr. of Lonedell, MO departed this life in Creve Coeur, MO on Sunday, November 26, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-three years, one month and four days. Charles was born in Richwoods, MO on October 21, 1940, son of John Albert Gloriod and Cathrine Ellen Gloriod nee Hayes. On August 3, 1963 he was united in marriage to Victoria Dora Niedermeier and four children came to bless this union. Charles is survived by his wife, Victoria Gloriod of Lonedell, MO; by his children, Donald Charles Gloriod and wife, Malinda, of Mechanicsville, MD, Ronald Edward Gloriod and significant other, Marty Hamende, of Washington, MO, Jennifer Lenore Gloriod and fiancé, Daniel Finlen, of Richwoods, MO and Charles Edward Gloriod, Jr. of Lonedell, MO; by his sister, Betty Pelton of Lonedell, MO; by his grandchildren, Jennifer Ruffin and husband, Adriel Alicea, Kalynn Crouse and husband, Cody, Brenton Gloriod and fiancé, Shannon Stillwell, Austin Gloriod, Bryson Gloriod, Seth Gloriod, Joshua Gloriod, Vencen Bumann and Alexandria Bumann; by his great-grandchildren, Jace Ruffin, Damien Alicea, Kai Crouse and BettySue Crouse; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cathrine Gloriod; and by his brothers, John Gloriod and Joseph Gloriod. Charles was a Christian of the Catholic faith and member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Richwoods, MO. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army, entering on June 27, 1958 and retiring over twenty-six years later, having attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. Charles enjoyed fishing and hunting for rabbits and squirrels. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds at his feeders. Another interest of his was going online and researching things related to helping veterans. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Father Eric Kunz officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
