Obituary

OBITUARY Charles Earl Baker of Lonedell, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Monday, March 13, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-nine years, three months and two days. Charles was born in Houston, MO on December 11, 1933, son of John Baker and Esther Baker nee Elliott. On May 10, 1952 he was united in marriage to Beulah Faye Hancock and three children came to bless this union. Charles is survived by his children, Charlie W. Baker and wife, Marcy, of St. Clair, MO, Donna Faye Baker-Thurman of Lonedell, MO and Richard "Rick" Baker and wife, Patti, of St. Louis, MO; by his great-grandson, Marcus Baker and fiancé, Angel Stubbs, of Lonedell, MO and six other great-grandchildren; by seven grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Baker; by his wife, Beulah Baker; by his sister, Velma Louise Wilson; by one granddaughter, Angela Baker; and by one great-great-granddaughter, Ravyn Baker. Charles was a Christian of the Baptist faith and had been attending Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. During his working career he was employed as a carpenter and millwright, first by Able Construction and then as a superintendent at Alberici Construction. Charles was a proud member of Carpenters Union Local 1839 and also worked out of the union hall. He served as Fire Chief for ten years for St. Clair Fire Protection District and also volunteered for many years. in his later years he enjoyed going to the fire house and drinking coffee with the men and telling stories. He also enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball games, going fishing and doing mechanic work and welding. He had a passion for woodworking, making bedroom sets for grandchildren, furniture for the family, picture frames and birdhouses. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great and great-great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great, great-great, and great-great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 20, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Chaplain Chuck Hoskins officiating. Entombment will be in Crestview Memorial Park Haven of Rest Mausoleum in St. Clair. MO.
