OBITUARY
Catherine Rose Jaycox of Bourbon, MO departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Friday, January 30, 2026, having reached the age of eighty-five years, three months and seventeen days. Catherine was born in St. Louis, MO on October 13, 1940, daughter of Raymond Bielicke and Marie Bielicke nee Huffman. As a young woman she was united in marriage and blessed to have six children.
Catherine is survived by four children, Michell Crabtree of Sherman, MO, Billy Selz and wife, Kathy, of Wildwood, MO, Tony Selz and wife, Wendy, of Lonedell, MO and Nick Selz, Sr. and wife, Christina, of Lonedell, MO; by six grandchildren, Josh Crabtree, Shawn Selz and wife, Samantha, Jessica Cowger and husband, Corbin, Ashley Selz and fiancé, Holdinn Dicamillo, Tiffany Randall, Nicholas Selz, Jr. and Angel Selz; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marie Bielike; by two sons, Chris Selz and Jason Selz; by her sister, Patricia Stocker; and by one granddaughter, Sarah Crabtree.
Catherine was a Christian of the Catholic faith and member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Bourbon, MO. During her working career in her younger years, she worked for the St. Louis Juvenile Courts and then for the United States Post office as a mail carrier for thirty-two years. She was a member of the Bourbon Quilt Guild and the Bourbon Boosters. Catherine loved quilting, living in her cabin in the woods and her antiques. She was a master gardener, growing beautiful flowers, and of course her favorite, Irises. Catherine truly enjoyed serving her community, being a government worker and proud of her Polish heritage. Her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, as she did in theirs. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever.
A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
