Obituary

OBITUARY Carol Ann Hografe of Dittmer, MO departed this life in Fenton, MO on February 1, 2024, having reached the age of seventy-one years, five months and one day. Carol was born in St. Louis, MO on August 31, 1952, daughter of Herbert William Hografe and Alouise Marie Hografe nee Dwyer. Carol is survived by her sister, Linda Turkovic and husband, Michael, of St. Louis, MO; by three brothers, Steve Hografe and wife, Katherine, of Dittmer, MO, Robert Hografe and wife, Tina, of Dittmer, MO and Jeff Hografe and wife, Lisa, of Lonedell, MO; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Alouise Hografe; and by one brother, John Hografe. Carol was a Christian and member of St. Martin's United Church of Christ in Dittmer, MO. During her working career she taught seventh and eighth grade science and math at Lonedell R-14 School District for thirty years and as a substitute teacher for ten years. She earned her Associate's Degree from Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO, her Bachelor's Degree from Southern Missouri State University in Springfield, MO and her Master's Degree from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, MO. Carol was a member of the National Teachers Association and a card-carrying member of the Cloup. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, ceramics and painting. She loved to sing and help others, but what meant most to her was spending time with her family. Although she had no children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. Interment will be in St. Martin's Cemetery in Dittmer, MO. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Heifer Group, Carter Foundation, NLEC or St. Martin UCC.
