Obituary

OBITUARY Carletta Bernice Hulsey of Robertsville, MO departed this life in St. Clair, MO on Friday, March 28, 2025, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, eight months and two days. Carletta was born in Robertsville, MO on July 26, 1936, daughter of Charles Edward Hulsey and Nutrie Berniece Hulsey nee Bland, known to all as Berniece. Carletta is survived by her brother, Marvin Hulsey of Robertsville, MO; by four sisters-in-law, Martha Hulsey of Robertsville, MO, Delores Ann Hulsey of Anderson, MO, Lucille Hulsey of Robertsville, MO and Mildred Carbin of St. Louis, MO; nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Carletta was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Berniece Hulsey; by eleven siblings, Lenzie Bland, Dorothy Generally, Sherlean Atchison, Curtis Hulsey, Alfred Hulsey, Loretta Hulsey, Rev. Charles Sherwood Hulsey, Harold Hulsey, Sam "Wesley" Hulsey, Earven Hulsey and Verla Perkins. Carletta was a Christian and longtime member of Mt. Calvery Baptist Church in Robertsville, MO where she was very active in the church, whether singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School or being on the kitchen committee. She served as a cook and a counselor at the Franklin County Baptist Association Spring Bluff camp, as well as doing missionary work through the church. Carletta has a servant's heart, whether babysitting, being the "family taxi driver" or being involved with her nieces and nephews 4H activities or band practice. She was active in Neighbors United, a group of volunteers whose goal to make a difference in the lives of families in need. What meant most to her was time spent with family. The love they shared and the many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving sister, aunt, great, great-great and great-great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Darren Perkins officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Calvery Cemetery in Robertsville, MO. Memorials may be made to Mt. Calvery Baptist Church in Robertsville, MO. The family of Carletta Hulsey entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
