OBITUARY
Bill Virgil Flurry of St. Clair, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, July 3, 2026, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, three months and fifteen days. Bill was born in Marlow, OK on March 18, 1938, son of Virgil Monroe Flurry and Ruth Harriet Flurry nee Pennypacker. On June 11, 1960 he was united in marriage to Glenna Marie Edwards, known to all as Marie, and two children came to bless this union.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marie Flurry of St. Clair, MO; by his son, William “Bill” Flurry and wife, Barbara, of Hillsboro, MO; by one brother, Richard Flurry and wife, Betty, of Piedmont, OK; by two sisters, Dixie Gildon of Duncan, OK and Deborah Turlington and husband, Richard, of Duncan, OK; by two sisters-in-law, Judy Flurry of Duncan, OK and Becky Flurry of St. Joseph, MO; by his grandchildren, Drew York of St. Clair, MO, Brandon York of Union, MO, Maggie Norrenberns and husband, Luke, of St. Louis, MO, Liz Flurry of Hillsboro, MO and Joe Flurry of Sullivan, MO; by his great-grandchildren, John Norrenberns, Jase Norrenberns and Brooks York; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Ruth Flurry; by his daughter, Gala York; by two brothers, Robert Flurry and Dolph Flurry; and by one sister, Mary Kate Condit.
Bill was a Christian of the Methodist faith and member of St. Clair United Methodist Church, where he was active in many of the church’s functions. After receiving his Master’s Degree in education he went on to teach for ten years in OK and another twenty in the St. Clair School District. He enjoyed playing golf but working was his passion, whether volunteering to help fix and build houses, coaching basketball at school or assisting in the relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever.
A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Roger Perriguey officiating, assisted by Pastor Rebecca Dunger Peak. Entombment will be in Crestview Memorial Park Haven of Rest Mausoleum in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the Agape House in St. Clair, MO in care of St. Clair United Methodist Church.
