OBITUARY
Betty Mae Davis of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Clair, MO on Thursday, July 23, 2026, having reached the age of ninety-two years, six months and nine days. Betty was born in Lonedell, MO on January 14, 1934, daughter of Floyd Augustus Hinson and Ethel Lorena Hinson nee Palmer. On February 27, 1954 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Andrew Davis and four children came to bless this union.
Betty is survived by her children, Terry Durgin and husband, Geoff, of St. Clair, MO, Bruce Allen Davis and wife, Diane, of St. Clair, MO, Steve Davis and wife, Mary, of Sullivan, MO and Tim Davis and significant other, Tina Gotsch, of St. Clair, MO; by ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ethel Hinson; by her husband, Lawrence Davis; and by her siblings, Floyd Hinson, Jr., Donald Hinson, Allen Connard, Kenneth Hinson, William Fredrick Hinson, Charles Neil Hinson, Silas Robert Hinson and Bernard Eugene Hinson.
Betty was a Christian and long-time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. During her working career she was employed by R&R Ace in St. Clair, MO for twenty-nine years, working in the fabric department. She had also worked at Bettie’s Bouquet for over ten years. Betty enjoyed playing the piano, doing quilting and embroidery. She especially loved family get-togethers and Sunday dinners after church. What meant most to her was time spent with family. Her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, as she did in theirs. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever.
A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund.
