Obituary

OBITUARY Alice Gladyne Bishop of Union, MO departed this life in Pacific, MO on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, seven months and twenty-one days. Alice was born in Sullivan, MO on August 12, 1936, daughter of William Oscar Vest and Bertha Alice Vest nee Hall. On May 26, 1956 she was united in marriage to Glenn Lloyd Bishop and two sons came to bless this union. Alice is survived by her sons, Mike Bishop and wife, Lorraine, of St. Clair, MO and Todd bishop and wife, Evon, of Washington, MO; by her grandchildren, Sarah Quick and husband, Josh, of Washington, MO, Amanda Michno and husband, Wes, of St. Clair, MO, Alicia Windsor and husband, Max, of Washington, MO, Emily Kleekamp and husband, Tyler, of Gerald, MO and Abigail Unnerstall and husband, Brian, of Villa Ridge, MO; by eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha Vest; by her husband, Glenn Bishop; by her brothers, Bud Vest and Donald Vest; and by her sisters, Susie Raines, Lilly Huff, Mary Current and Emma Bliss. Alice was a Christian and member of Oak Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Union, MO. During her working career she had worked as a waitress, would occasionally clean homes and as an assembler at Deb Shoe Factory in St. Clair, MO. Caring for her home and family and working on the family farm was her top priority. Alice enjoyed doing crochet, playing dominoes, playing cards, especially hand & foot, and canning the produce from her vegetable garden. She loved traveling with Glenn and going to his Naval reunions. What meant most to her was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be forever cherished by them all. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousins and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Pastor John Pursley officiating. Interment will be in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
