Albert Lee Downey, Sr. of Salem, MO departed this life in Salem on Sunday, January 21, 2024, having reached the age of seventy-six years, six months and twenty days. Albert was born in St. Clair, MO on July 1, 1947, son of Frances Marie Downey. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have four children. Albert is survived by one daughter, Jenniffer Allman of Hermann, MO; by one son, John Downey of Jonesburg, MO; by five brothers, Eddie Ray Staggs, Larry Moore, Mark Moore, Paul Moore and wife, Candace, and Timmy Moore; by four sisters, Selma Head, known to all as Sam, and significant other, Stevin Norris, Pam Stennett, Martha McGee and Virginia Moore; by two step-sisters, Sally Musgrave and Josephine Easton; by three grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Albert was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Moore; by his son, Albert Downey, Jr.; by his daughter, Jeanette Downey; by one brother, Beryl Downey; by one sister, Thelma Washburn; by ten infant siblings; and by his step-sister, Colleen DeClue. During his working career he owned and operated his salvage company for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and woodworking. Albert also enjoyed being outside, especially caring for and mowing his lawn. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday, January 29, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on that day at the funeral home. Interment will be in United Methodist Cemetery in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
