Thomas Earl Willis

January 30, 1943 - January 28, 2022

OBITUARY Thomas Earl Willis of Lonedell, MO departed this life in Lonedell, MO on January 28, 2022, having reached the age of seventy-eight years, eleven months and twenty-nine days. Thomas was born in Kirksville, MO on January 30, 1943, son of Omer Earl Willis and Sara Jane Willis nee Melton. As a young man he was blessed to have two sons. On June 7, 1983 he was united in marriage to Leellyn Ann Brunton, known to all as Lee. Thomas is survived by his sons, Anthony Willis, Sr., known to all as Tony, and wife, Holly, of Foristell, MO and Eric Willis and wife, Melinda, of St. Charles, MO; by his sister, Brianna Juergens and husband, Ken, of Washington, MO; by ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Sara Willis; and by his wife, Lee Willis. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Navy, entering on June 29, 1961 and receiving his honorable discharge on March 14, 1962, having attained the rank of SA. During his working career he was employed by the public works department of several cities, eventually retiring as the Director of the Public Works Department in Edwardsville, IL. Thomas loved to go camping and fishing. He also loved to travel the country in his camper. What meant most to him was his time spent with family. The many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Graveside services with full military honors was held at 11:30 AM February 8, 2022 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice. The family of Thomas Earl Willis was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
