Raymond "Dee" Prater

January 10, 1933 - May 27, 2022

Raymond Dee Prater, known to all as “Dee”, of Luebbering, MO departed this life in St. Clair, MO on May 27, 2022, having reached the age of eighty-nine years, four months and seventeen days. Raymond was born in Round Spring, MO, son of Moses Ulysis Prater and May Dora Prater nee Warren. On November 26, 1955 he was married in Mt. Vernon, IL to Norma Jane Garman, and two sons came to bless this union. Dee is survived by one son, Steven Prater and wife, Robin, of Luebbering, MO; by one sister-in-law, Ilene Young of Sommersville, MO; by five grandchildren, Lacey Charles and husband, William, of Summerville, SC, Dustin Prater and girlfriend, Kelly McGinnis, of St. Clair, MO, Ashley Debrecht and husband, Mark, of St. Clair, Whitney Baynes and husband, Bryan, known to all as B.J., of St. Clair and Jacob Prater, known to all as Jake, and fiancée, Alexis Anderson, of Luebbering; by seven great-grandchildren, Peyton, Jack, Landin, Liam, Callie, London and Layne; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Dee was preceded in death by his parents, Moses and May Prater; by his wife, Norma Prater; by one son, Pascal Prater, known to all as Pat; by his brothers, Lowell Prater, Lloyd Prater, Floyd Prater and Bill Prater; and by her sisters, Elunice Martin, Imogene Folta, Virgielene Edwards and Betty Carl. Dee was a Christian and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. Throughout his working career, Dee did residential and commercial concrete work and was a proud member of Labors Local 42, St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed fishing, camping, raising cattle, gardening and especially joking around. Dee loved to carpentry and woodworking in general. What meant most to him was the time he spent with his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and held a very special place in his heart, as he did in theirs. A loving and devoted father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, MO with Rev. Ben Kingston officiating. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery, Lonedell, MO. The family of Raymond Dee Prater was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, MO.
