Glenn Lloyd Bishop

December 28, 1931 - February 1, 2022

OBITUARY Glenn Lloyd Bishop of Union, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on February 1, 2022, having reached the age of ninety years, one month and four days. Glenn was born in St. Louis, MO on December 28, 1931, son of Laura Bishop nee Lewis. On May 26, 1956 he was united in marriage to Alice Gladyne Vest and two sons came to bless this union. Glenn is survived by his wife, Alice Bishop of Union, MO; by his sons, Mike Bishop and wife, Lorraine, of St. Clair, MO and Todd Bishop and wife, Evon, of Washington, MO; by his grandchildren, Sarah Quick and husband, Josh, of Washington, MO, Amanda Michno and husband, Wes, of St. Clair, MO, Alicia Windsor and husband, Max, of Washington, MO, Emily Bishop and fiancée, Tyler Kleekamp, of Gerald, MO and Abigail Bishop and fiancée, Brian Unnerstall, of Villa Ridge, MO; by nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Bishop; and by his sister, Delma Girardier. He was proud to have served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy, entering on March 4, 1952 and receiving his honorable discharge on February 16, 1956, having attained the rank of AM3. During his working career he was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, now AT&T, as a lineman and repairman, serving the company for twenty-eight years. He loved to travel, especially to Rhode Island, Texas and New Orleans. He also enjoyed playing the stock market, playing cards, especially Hand and Foot, or poker. After retiring he traded cattle and eventually traded his stock trailer for a travel trailer. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many memories they created will forever live in their hearts. A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Leroy Bryant officiating. Interment with full military honors was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to Oak Hill Freewill Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
