Douglas Allen Dell

December 2, 1954 - February 24, 2022

OBITUARY Douglas Allen Dell of Lonedell, MO departed this life in Creve Coeur, MO on February 24, 2022, having reached the age of sixty-seven years, two months twenty-two days. Douglas was born in Washington, MO on December 2, 1954, son of Richard Allen Dell, known to all as Dick, and Mary Catherine Dell nee Capehart. On August 29, 1992 he was united in marriage to Lauren Eileen Ham and he loved her children as his own. Douglas is survived by his wife, Lauren Dell of Lonedell, MO; by his children, Lancelot Oldham and wife, Trish, of Union, MO and Rachel Rodman and husband, Mark, of Sullivan, MO; by his step-children, Rebecca Johnson and husband, Nick, of St. Clair, MO, Isaac Sohn and wife, Jessica, of Lonedell, MO and Jacob Sohn and wife, Amy, of St. Clair, MO; by his sister, Carol Schlote and husband, Pat, of St. Clair, MO; by his brother, Carl Dell of St. Clair, MO; by his siblings-in-law, Kate Keathley of Cottelville, MO, Michael Ham and wife, Susan, of Matthews, NC, Kristin Ham of Cape Girardeau, MO and Elizabeth Gerling and husband, Chris, of Lonedell, MO; by his live-in grandchildren, Nichole “Nikki” Stone of Lonedell, MO, Dante Johnson of Lonedell, MO and Madysen “Mady” Johnson of Lonedell, MO; by forty-seven additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Dell. During his working career he was employed by St. Clair Die Casting Company in St. Clair, MO for forty years, the last twenty years as manager of the shipping/receiving department. He was a Commander of Sons of the American Legion, member of VFW Auxiliary Post 2482 and a charter member of Elks Lodge 2651. He spent seventeen years as coach of the Packers, a little league football team. Douglas enjoyed spending time boating and floating on the river. He also loved to listen to music and sports radio and drink beer. The children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and spending time with them brought him the most joy. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever by cherished by them all. A kind and loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Doug Kamper officiating. The Sons of the American Legion Service will take place at 12:45 PM. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.
