Vernon Lee Wymer

OBITUARY Vernon Lee Wymer of St. Clair, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on May 17, 2022, having reached the age of seventy-two years, ten months and five days. Vernon was born in Hinch, MO on July 12, 1949, son of Ovie Edward Wymer and Gladys Irene Wymer nee Summers. On August 23, 1980 he was united in marriage to Cathy Jean Berkel and one son came to bless this union. Vernon is survived by his wife, Cathy Wymer of St. Clair, MO; by his son, Matthew Wymer of St. Clair, MO; by his brother, Carroll Wymer and wife, Sally, of Bourbon, MO; by his sister, Linda Griffith and husband, Gary, of Sullivan, MO; by his sister-in-law, Diana Berkel of Jefferson City, MO; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Ovie and Gladys Wymer; and by his brother-in-law, Kenneth Berkel. Vernon was a Christian, having been raised in the Baptist faith and believing in the Lord as his Savior. He began his working career at Pea Ridge Mines in Sullivan, MO for ten years until the closing of the mine. He went on to college at Linn State College in Linn, MO for a degree in drafting. He spent the next thirty years working as a draftsman at Von Weise Gear Company in St. Clair, MO and the next ten years after that at Klauber Machine and Gear Company in Pacific, MO. Vernon was a proud member of Masonic Lodge #69 AF & AM in Sullivan, MO, initiated on September 5, 1975, passed on May 25, 1976 and raised on October 21, 1977. He loved working outdoors, collecting coins and had a passion for researching ancestry. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Visitation was held from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with a Masonic Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 23, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park in Affton, MO. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Masonic Lodge #69 AF & AM in Sullivan, MO.
