Donna Marie Downey

OBITUARY Donna Marie Downey of Berger, MO departed this life in Washington, MO on September 16, 2022, having reached the age of fifty-eight years, two months and fifteen days. Donna was born in St. Louis, MO on July 1, 1964, daughter of Stanley Alfred Fleer, Sr. and Rosemary Nancy Fleer nee Walls. As a young woman she was blessed to have three children. On June 30, 2001 she was united in marriage to Edward Leo Downey. Donna is survived by her husband, Edward Downey of Berger, MO; by her children, Stanley O. Fleer and wife, Kayla, of St. Clair, MO, Rose M. Ritchie and fiancé, Jason Eaklor, of Berger, MO and Matthew L. McMullin and wife, Hailey, of Leasburg, MO; by her sisters, Annette Irwin and husband, Mike, of St. Clair, MO and Robin Orf and husband, Larry, of Bowling Green, MO; by fifteen grandchildren, Kaydence Fleer, Kayley Wells, Kallie Fleer, Elijah Fleer, Erin Friend, Jeremiah Friend, Brittany Friend, Isabella “Izzy” Ritchie, Andrew McMullin, Tyson McMullin, Wyatt McMullin, Phoebe McMullin, Morgan Grottman, Dylan Grottman and Jaxon Grottman; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley, Sr. and Rosemary Fleer; by her step-mother, Janice Fleer; by her ex-husband, Gary McMullin; by her brother, Stanley Fleer, Jr.; by three sisters, Tamara Fleer, Janette Fleer and Susan Hoffman; and by aunts and uncles. Donna was a Christian and believed in the Lord as her Savior. During her working career she was employed as a waitress at various restaurants in the area. She enjoyed working in her garden and collecting gems. She loved caring for her home and family and especially cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. Donna was the glue that bound her family together and her absence will be greatly missed. A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 6:30 PM Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorial may be made to the family.
