OBITUARY

Jennie Marie Nugent of Union, MO, departed this life in Washington, MO, February 11, 2013, having reached the age of eighty-five years, three months and twenty-seven days. Jennie was born in Union, MO, on October 15, 1927, daughter of Leslie Lee Copeland and Flora Caroline Copeland nee Baur. On January 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Floyd “Pat” Leroy Nugent and two children came to bless this union.

Jennie is survived by her husband, Floyd “Pat” Nugent of Union, MO; by her children, William “Bill” Leslie Nugent and wife, Teri, of Jefferson City, MO and Verna “Candy” Ruth Pierce and husband, Jim, of Washington, MO; by one brother, Bobby Allen Copeland and wife, Pat, of Union; by one sister, Violet Toelke and husband, Delmar, of Union; by two grandchildren, Jennifer Stoner and husband, Shawn, of Arkansas City, KS and William “Mike” Nugent of Stillwater, OK; by six great-grandchildren, Brayden, Bryson and Brody Stoner and Jaide, Jacob and Joselyn Nugent; by two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Flora Copeland; by two brothers, Leslie Lee Copeland, Jr. and Franklin Dorsey Copeland; and by three sisters, Velma Groom, Rosemary Copeland and Verna Ruth Copeland.

Jennie was a Christian and member of First Baptist Church in Union, MO. During her working career, she had worked at a garment factory in Ozark, MO and most recently as a sales clerk in a basket shop in Lake Ozark, MO. Jennie had a variety of interests throughout her life traveling in the family RV and collecting moon and star glass. She was and avid reader and loved to embroider, especially pillowcases. Jennie had also played electric bass guitar in her husband’s band, “Pat’s Best In The West Band”. What meant most to Jennie was time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart, as she did in theirs. The love they shared and precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever.

A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin, and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with Brother Clay Copeland officiating. Interment was in Anaconda Cemetery in St. Clair. Memorials may be made to Anaconda Cemetery.
