Arthur Lee Crider of St. Clair, MO, known to most as Art, departed this life on Saturday, September 19, 2009, in St. Clair, having reached the age of fifty-six years, five months and eleven days. Art was born in St. Louis, MO, on April 8, 1953, son of Charles Edwin Crider and Magdalene Crider nee Blanton.

Art is survived by six brothers, Edwin Crider of Hephzibah, GA, Kenneth Crider and wife, Darlene, of Augusta, GA, Richard Crider and wife, Violet, of Rock Island, TN, Melvin Crider and wife, Connie, of Cadet, MO, Michael Crider and wife, Mindy, of Hephzibah and Kevin Crider and wife, Charlotte, of Bismarck, MO; by one sister, Beverly Kelly and husband, Tom, of Theodore, AL; by one brother-in-law, Orville Peters of Gray Summit, MO; by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Magdalene Crider; and by one sister, Sharon Peters.

Art was a Christian and had been raised attending the Assembly of God Church. Art was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam era as a Private First Class in the United States Army, entering on January 15, 1971, and receiving his honorable discharge on February 20, 1973. Arthur was a member of VFW Post 2482 of St. Clair and the American Legion Post 347 of St. Clair. Art had enjoyed many pastimes during his life, including fishing and hunting. In more recent years, his favorite pastime was enjoying the fellowship of fellow veterans and the many friends at the VFW post.

A kind and loving brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, great uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, with Larry Bleckler officiating and a ceremony by the VFW Post 2482 of St. Clair. Interment with full military honors was held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. Memorials may be made to VFW Post 2482 of St. Clair.
