OBITUARY Mary Alice Mallett of Sullivan, MO, formerly St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Fenton, MO on February 22, 2010, having reached the age of eighty-five years, two months and eleven days. Mary Alice was born in St. Clair, MO on December 11, 1924, daughter of James Robert Bowman and Nannie Verda Bowman nee Mothershead. As a young woman, she was united in marriage and blessed to have two children.

Alice, as she was known by most, is survived by her friend and companion, Richard Boyer of Bourbon, MO; by her daughter, Judy Wideman and husband, Jerry, of St. Clair; by her former daughter-in-law, Dianna Mallett Queen and husband, Mick, of Sullivan; by three grandchildren, Nickie Bock and husband, Keith, of Leasburg, MO, Chance Mallett and wife, Becky, of Wentzville, MO and Shelly Wagner and husband, Doug, of Kansas City, MO; by one brother, Forrest Bowman and wife, Aurelia, known to many as Lady, of Richwoods, MO; by six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nannie Bowman; by her son, Richard Mallett; by two brothers, Harold “Oris” Bowman and Harry “Robert” Bowman; and by one sister, Hazel “Laverne” Howell.

Alice was a Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of St. Clair, MO. For many years, she was employed at Deb Shoe Company in St. Clair. After moving to Texas, she was employed as a sales clerk in the jewelry division of Montgomery Ward in Houston, TX. In recent years, she worked part time as a home health care provider in the Sullivan area. Alice was an outgoing fun loving lady that enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She loved to go dancing and for several years was a member of a local square dancing group. Sewing was another favorite hobby as was cutting her grass and caring for her yard. She liked going fishing and traveling with Richard. She loved her family dearly and she cherished the time they shared.

A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and loving remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair with the Rev. Dr. Phil Turner officiating. Interment was in New Chapel Hill Cemetery, Sullivan, MO. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO.
