Uriah Williams, Sr., known to most as “Man” of Robertsville, MO, departed this life on Monday, June 8, 2009, in St. Charles, MO, having reached the age of sixty-three years, nine months and fourteen days. Uriah, Sr. was born in St. Louis, MO, on August 25, 1945, son of Abraham Isacc Williams and Myrtle Williams nee Davidson. On January 10, 1965, Uriah, Sr. was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Cobb, known to most as “Doll Baby” and four children came to bless this union.
Uriah, Sr. is survived by two sons, Uriah “Junior” Williams, Jr. of Terra Haute, IN and Tyrone Williams of Robertsville; by two daughters, Sherry Ingram of Robertsville and Angela Hamilton and husband, Robert, of Catawissa, MO; by one sister, Beverly Wikes of Jefferson City, MO; by sixteen grandchildren, Stanley, Shawn, Shavar, Shynisha, Nekaisha, Ieshia, D.J., Kylie, Shavey, Bre, Madeline, Isiah, Shannon, T.J., Robert, Jr. and Terrence; by three brothers-in-law, M. C. “Gray” Cobb of Memphis, TN, J.C. Cobb of the state of Mississippi and Marvin Cobb of St. Louis; by two sisters-in-law, Mildred Parker and husband, Othia of Chicago, IL and Bernice Tolbert of St. Louis; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Uriah, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Myrtle Williams; by his wife, Doll Baby Williams; by two brothers, Dave Davidson and Donald Hinkle.
Uriah, Sr. was a Christian and a member of Pacific Temple Church of God In Christ. During his working years, Uriah, Sr. was employed by Alton Brick and later went on to own and operate Williams Asphalting and Williams Hauling Company. Uriah, Sr. was a hard working man and was never idle, he always found time to go fishing, hunting and loved to watch and race motorcycles and boxing. Uriah, Sr. enjoyed his children and grandchildren, and cherished all the times spent together.
A kind and loving father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, uncle, great and great-great uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. John L. Moore officiating. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Robertsville, MO.
